Helen Riess, MD

Dr. Riess is a Harvard clinical and research psychiatrist at Massachusetts General Hospital and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
In 2012, Dr. Riess founded Empathetics.com a company that provides evidence-based empathy and communication skills training for healthcare and allied health professionals and front line staff. Dr.Riess is an internationally recognized speaker on the topic of empathy and emotional intelligence. Her TEDx talk “The power of Empathy TEDX” has been viewed more than 750,000 times. Her new book, The Empathy Effect has been licensed in 10 foreign countries and has been translated into Korean, Polish, and Italian, Spanish, and an audio book. Dr. Riess and her teams are dedicated to transforming organizational systems into compassionate care systems. Her research has been published in leading medical journals and has won numerous awards.
